Director of Music — Church of the Epiphany (Tempe, AZ)
Part-time | 15-20 hours/week
Church of the Epiphany is seeking a Director of Music to lead and nurture our music ministry in partnership with the Rector, organist, staff, and choir. We are looking for a person of both professional musical skill and lived Christian faith — someone who understands music not merely as performance, but as a ministry of prayer, formation, and communal life.
Responsibilities include selecting and leading hymnody, psalmody, and choral music for weekly 10 AM services and principal feasts; directing weekly choir rehearsals; hiring instrumental musicians for major holy days; and planning the full liturgical music calendar from August through summer.
The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience leading volunteer choirs, is familiar with Episcopal/Anglican liturgical worship, and leads with a collaborative, relational style that fosters belonging across ages and abilities. A degree in music or a related field is preferred.

Director of Youth & Children Ministries — Church of the Epiphany (Tempe,AZ)
Part-time | 10-12 hours/week
Position Description:
The Minister for Children, Youth, and Families is a lay position tasked with coordinating, developing, implementing, and overseeing the ministries for children and youth at Church of the Epiphany-Tempe with an emphasis on age-appropriate Christian formation offerings.
Responsibilities:
• Recruit, train, and mentor youth and children’s Sunday school teachers and youth leaders, including Safe Church, Safe Communities training completion
• Work with teachers and leaders to be sure they have the resources they need to be successful as Sunday school teachers and/or youth leaders
• Communicate with teachers, leaders, students, and families across multiple mediums in a professional and loving manner
• Develop and implement age-appropriate Christian formation programs for children and youth
• Oversee operations of the nursery including supervision of nursery staff
• Create and submit an annual budget
• Participate in an annual mutual ministry review with teachers, leaders, and the rector
• Be an advocate for the church of today - especially our children, youth, and families!
• Other duties, as assigned

Requirements:
• A strong personal faith life and a strong understanding of The Episcopal Church
• Flexible schedule during the week recognizing that attendance on Sundays and Christian holidays is expected.
• Proven ability to create a vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage, and implement children and youth ministries.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills, and computer skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with youth, young adults, parents, diverse individuals, and teams of volunteers.
• 3 years experience in youth and children’s ministry or 5 years experience in similar work outside the church
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Pay, Hours, and Benefits
The Minister for Children, Youth, and Families is expected to work 10-12 hours a week. Compensation is dependent upon experience up to $20 per hour. Candidates interested in this position should send a cover letter, résumé, and references to hunter@epiphanytempe.org as soon as possible.
Volunteer Opportunities
Position: Office Volunteer
Supervisor: Assistant to the Rector
Scheduled Hours: 3 hours per week, flexible
Position Description:
Office volunteers assist the Rector and Assistant to the Rector in carrying out daily administrative tasks to create a welcoming and hospitable environment for all visitors to Church of the Epiphany.
Above all, office volunteers will be on their own vibrant journey of faith and will articulate the importance of Jesus Christ in their lives.
Under the supervision of the Assistant to the Rector, the office volunteers will assist in the following ways:
Volunteer Tasks:
• Answer incoming phone calls and direct them to the most appropriate member of staff.
• Check the general inquiry voicemail and forward messages to the most appropriate member of staff.
• Check the mail each day and mark items as received with date and time stamp.
• File donations in the appropriate place until deposited.
• Assist with preparing mailings, bulletins, and other parish communications.
• Assist Parish Administrator/Assistant to the Rector in filing paperwork and communications appropriately.
• Greet and welcome guests and visitors to the parish office; offer visitors coffee or water upon arrival.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Volunteers are invited to attend weekly staff meetings but are not required to do so.
Training Requirements:
• Complete the online Safe Church training
• On the job training provided for other duties
Office volunteer shifts will be Monday – Thursday from 10am to 1pm, and 1pm to 4pm. Hours and days are flexible to meet your weekly schedule needs. If you are interested in joining the office volunteer ministry, please send an email to Christian at christian@epiphanytempe.org
